In psychotherapy sessions, clients have the opportunity to work through relationship challenges and work on their own problematic behaviours, thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, or work on their self awareness and development. You might want to overcome past trauma experiences so you can be more present in your life as well as look forward with optimism to your future. This can be done through a variety of psychotherapy modalities. Kelly works with EMDR, psychodynamic psychotherapy, family systems, narrative therapy, CBT, parts work/inner child work, and more!

I’ve learned in my own healing journey that healing and growth can take place in a positive therapeutic relationship. While it can feel vulnerable to start, we can do new things in the safety of a kind and compassionate relationship—a brave space. I welcome the opportunity to create that type of space with you. I respect and welcome all people without judgement. No matter your past or present—we all start somewhere.

I find my therapeutic “home” in person-centred, psychodynamic and narrative approaches to therapy that integrate your values and spirituality (religious or non-religious) if that is important to you. I also work somatically with EMDR.

I borrow widely from many types of therapy (solution focused, family systems, grief therapy, art therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, parts work, cognitive behavioural therapy, CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic work, and more), to help you create the life you long for. I work through a trauma-informed and neuroscience informed lens and consider attachment in our work together. I get excited by the possibilities of change as all the science says we don’t need to stay stuck.

We’ll work at your pace, according to what your nervous system can handle. When needed, we’ll help build your resources to handle a little more. Slow and steady can lead to incredible life change.

I have worked in health care for over ten years and have a lot of experience providing support to those who are struggling with:

>grief and loss

>major life changes

>trauma (childhood, relational, intersectional, generational as well as PTSD/CPTSD and accident/medical traumas)

>new diagnoses or palliative illness

>spiritual issues and meaning making

>feeling stuck

>decision making

>relationship challenges

>Self-development

I specialize in:

Trauma, particularly where it relates to childhood and relational trauma.

Major life transitions such as marriage, separation/divorce, remarriage, new diagnosis or prognosis, dealing with chronic illness, being away from home, empty nesting, miscarriage, infertility, menopause, mid-life and quarter-life “crisis,” and dying and grief.

Caregiver support—whether you are a healthcare professional, first responder, teacher, faith leader, a fellow therapist, or family member or friend supporting a loved one.

I have extensive training and experience in supervision and meet the requirements to supervise RP (Qualifying) candidates as well as RPs seeking ongoing consultation or supervision. See my Supervision page at bravespacetherapy.ca for additional information including benefits companies I provide direct billing to.
